Word of the Month: CONCENTRATION 🎯
Concentration is a superpower in martial arts and in life.
When children improve their concentration, they listen better, learn faster, stay safer, perform better in school, and build confidence through achievement.
Here are 10 ways to help your child build better concentration at home:
1. Reduce distractions Turn off TVs, tablets, or background noise during focused activities.

2. Give one instruction at a time Young children focus better with simple, clear directions.
3. Encourage reading timeEven 10–15 minutes daily helps improve attention span.
4. Play focus gamesTry memory games, puzzles, “Simon Says,” or spot-the-difference.
5. Limit screen overstimulationFast-paced content can make sustained focus harder.
6. Encourage physical activityMovement helps children regulate energy and attention.
7. Practise listening skillsAsk them to repeat instructions back to you.
8. Build routinesConsistent routines help children mentally prepare for focus.
9. Praise effort, not just results“Great job staying focused” reinforces the behaviour.
10. Martial arts training! 🥋Martial arts naturally develops listening, discipline, self-control, and concentration through structured repetition and challenge.
At CCS, concentration is something we actively develop in every class 👊
